Profile
The research focus at ISU lies on the mathematical modeling of transport and flow processes. Research activities at ISU include the following fields:
- Development and application of scaling methods
- Development and application of time-stepping schemes and spatial discretization methods
- Stochastic modeling
- Modeling of two-phase flow in porous media
- Modeling of flow in the unsaturated zone
- Modeling of fractured rock
- Urban hydrology
- Groundwater modeling
- Flow dynamics in coastal areas
- Simulation of variable-density flow
- Experimental investigation of flow processes
The ISU carries out fundamental research as well as applied research using interdisciplinary approaches. Coupling of mathematical models becomes increasingly important, in order to investigate complex physical problems. In that respect, a particular focus is on the efficiency of models and their coupling.
